INTRODUCTION

This season’s collection for Men and Women takes inspiration from three separate themes: Work Wear, Military, and Beach Rock. These themes seek to take a journey through the Lee Cooper archives from its roots in denim wear for the factory classes, through to its support of the armed forces and finally to its association with music and rock-and-roll bands such as the Rifles or the Screamings Ballerinas.

WORKWEAR
Founded in 1908 to make denim work wear, these influences can be seen in the subtle use of triple needle stitching, loop details and pocket styling on jeans through to more blatant work wear products in the form of dungarees and work pants.
A global trend, there is much interest from certain markets for a true work wear line to be develop and sold though hardware store type distribution.
The 'idea' of this forms the inspiration for the work wear collection.

MILITARY
Following the company’s decision in 1914 to produce 'battle fatigues', Lee Cooper has a well documented history of turning their manufacturing facilities over to the service of the forces.
Military influences continue to be on the trend for SS08. As this look is part of our heritage and DNA, its influence can be seen in the styling and detailing of silhouettes and stitch details.
Basic 'chino' type styles (for a more conservative customer) sit alongside more edgy overt 'combat' type product. Prints are in a military palette.

ROCK
Continuing our links with the music, this theme plays on the word 'Rock” and exploits more garish 'rock” influenced graphics alongside more staid understated pieces. This collection takes influences from 'nautical 'product, stripes and cleaner more simple styling is used on tops and beach silhouettes in bright colours, This collection introduces more directional surf pieces and board wear.
'Beach Rock” is an opportunity to offer a fresh, brighter, commercial summer package.
